- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- 18 years of age at time of practical test (checkride)

- Hold a private pilot certificate
- 250 hours of total flight time
- 100 hours in powered aircraft, 50 of which must be in airplanes
- 100 hours of pilot in command (PIC)
- 50 hours of cross country (over 50nm)
- 20 hours of flight training
